Alter table is not possible

When I tried to delete a field from user-defined table, it does not allow it and

says: Alter table is not possible.

How can I delete the field?

Hi,

Modifying standard SAP tables is not recommended.

If its a Z table, then ensure that the field is not used in any object viz. report, FM, smartforms etc.

Also check the Foreign key relationship of that field, if any.

If above steps have negative answer, then you should be able to delete the field.

Goto SE14 transaction for Activation of such tables.

How will I use se24, I have tried it but could not get the desired result.

I just want to delete the 2 fields of the table ZSD_SALES_DATA.However it is not possible to do that.

Hi Deniz..

Whenever we get an Error ALTER TABLE not possible (bcoz of changes in the table definition) we have to use the DATABASE UTILITY (Tcode SE14) to Adjust the Table definition in Physical database. then only the table gets activated.

Steps:

Goto Tcode SE14.

Enter your table name.

Select the Pushbutton "Activate and Adjust the Table"

Note: Ensure that the radio button SAVE DATA is selected.

Now the table should get activated.

Hi Deniz,

First see if the custom table contains any data , if yes, try deleting the data and then alter the table.

If the above solution does not solve your problem try using the T Code se14 and then alter your custom table.

IN DELIVERY AND MAINTAINENCE TAB OF THE USER DEFINED TABLE [ GO TO SE11 AND GIVE THE TABLE NAME SEE THE DELIVERY AND MAINTAINENCE TAB] TTHEY MIGHT HAVE MENTIONED LIKE ...................
