which is what is fucctionality of fuctioncode in inbound or out bound

or

what is use of fuction code?

Hi,

steps to perform inbound and out bound are as follows

INBOUND:

Step 1. EDI Subsystem creates an IDoc file from EDI Messages

2. Subsystem calls Functional Module EDI_DATA_INCOMING from startRFC program.

3. Data in Control Record is validate against the Partner Profile.

4. IDoc is generated in Database and syntax check is carried out.

5. IDoc file is deleted once file read.

6. Event PROCESSSTATE REACHED is triggered in Idoc Object Workflow.

7. Check for Process Immediately.

If NO

Execute RBDAPP01 Program

Else

Read Process Code from Partner Profile

Process Code Points to Function Module

Application Document Posted.

Outbound:

Step 1. Application document is created when transaction is saved.

2. Message control is invoked.

3. Messages are processed by system.

4. Messages are Edited (if desired).

5. Output (ALE / EDI) is checked

6. Validate against Message control record from Partner Profile

7. Application Document is saved.

8. Entry NAST table is created for every selected output program

along with Medium & Timing.

9. Check for Process Immediately .

If (yes)

Determine Processing Program from TNAPR Table.

ELSE

Execute RSNASTED Program.

10. Read Partner Profile to determine Process Code.

11. Process Code points to the Function Module & Invoked.

12. IDoc is generated.

13. Check for ALE Request.

if (Yes)

Perform Filters, Conversions, Version Changes etc.

Else.

IDoc is stored in DATABASE.

Hi Madhu,

Function code means when ever user selects any button on the application tool bar immediatly that function code will store in OK_CODE. every button have one function code. open SE41 and check some buttons.Based on the function codes we will do the performs.

Function code is nothin but an identity given to each object...so that u can use it when u wanna trigger it...

The system fields called SY_UCOMM catches the function code of the clicked menu item.

for Instance.....i have created a button called DISPLAY with function code - DISP

CASE SY_UCOMM.

WHEN 'DISP".

................

................

ENDCASE.

I hope you are asking for PROCESS CODE not the FUnction Code w.r.t to ALE/IDOC

Process code is the one which points to a fun module and triggers the fun module

A process code is assigned to each selection program that executes under message control

For Inbound and outbound there will be different process codes

we create them using WE41 and WE42 tcodes

Is it Process code ?

you can check WE41 & WE42 transactions...process code will be used to attach the FM / Workflow / task to the partner [Ew21].

Hi Madhu,

Process Code is used to specify what type of processing should be carried out.

We need to know what type of data is coming. depend on that we have to set the Process Code. Process code always attached with Function Module, where the functionality ios written. without Function Module we cannot use process code.

ypur question is not cleare if it is message code or message function uniqueness can be assured for several idoc types have same message type

if it is function module in out bound it reads apllication document generate idoc

Hi madhu,

Process of filling the IDOC with application data is done by Function

Module. But, <b>function module</b> is not assigned to a Partner. It is

encapsulated by a Process Code and this Process Code is assigned to

a Partner in Partner Profile.

• Assigning Function Module to Process Code

- Go to Transaction WE41.

- Switch to “Change” Mode and click “New Entries”.

- Enter Process Code Name and assign the Function Module created.

Outbound Process Code

Use

In the case of Outbound processing under Message Control , the process is found (function module of the application) via the outbound process code. The process reads the application data and places it in an IDoc.

You must edit the outbound process codes in the following cases:

• You have written a function module (for example for a separate IDoc type), which you want to name through a new process code

• You want to assign a different function module to process code X.

• You want to the switch the ALE services on or off. Deactivating the ALE services can improve performance (lower memory requirement)

Features

The outbound process codes are application specific.

Activities

• You determine the required process code from the corresponding partner profiles or via Documentation &#8594; Process code in the Initial Node of the IDoc Interface From the initial node of the IDoc interface, select Control &#8594; Outbound process code.

• Select Table view &#8594; Display/Change to change an assignment or to make a new entry.

Inbound Process Code

Use

The processing (workflow or application function module) which reads the IDoc data and generates the corresponding documents is found via the inbound process code.

You must edit the inbound process codes in the following cases:

• You want to use a new process and need a new process code for it

• You want to assign different processing to process code X

• You want to switch the ALE services on or off (this is only possible if the processing is a workflow!). Switching off the ALE services can improve performance (lower memory requirement)

Features

The inbound process codes are application-specific. IDoc Basis includes the process code ED08, which forwards inbound IDocs to distributed R/3 Systems (“Forward inbound” function). This processing is defined by the workflow template WS30000483.

Activities

Hi Madhu,

Process codes can be used to link either Funciton Module or Workflow. When an IDoc is received from other system, or an Idoc is created to be sent to other system, the Process code is checked to find the assignment.

If Func. Module is assigned to Proc code, the Idoc can be automatically created. If Workflow is assigned to Proc code, a work item will be sent to a user where he has to take further action.

If an Idoc fails a Workflow can be triggered. In the process code we can mention which Business Object Event to be triggered if a IDoc fails. Which Event to be triggered if an IDoc is successfully finished after processing from error.

Hi Madhu,

Process code refers to the function module which has been coded as per the requirement .For example an idoc error handling workflow can be coded and it can be used in the program for inbound and for some other reason for outbound u can create ur FM using WE41 & WE42.

Hi Madhu,

As mentioned in the previous posts, process code has a function module linked with it which could be created by transactions WE41(outbound) and WE42(inbound).

You can find all the outbound and inbound process codes with their associated function modules for the configured message types as a whole in transaction WE64.
