Adding an error message to Log

I want to display a error message in VF11 Edit -> Log window. Any one has experince with this issue.?

Are you referring to SAP Application log or ??

If Application log, look at function modules 'BAL_LOG*'

Well, im using a user-exit while cancelling documnet in transec. vf11 so im controlling bill period if its passed then display a message to user. If its not then cancel the bill.

But i couldnt display error as in "Message" type so i want to add it to logs to show users. hope im clear
