Adding a new field to table

Hi, I am fairly new to abap so please bear with me.

I have a custom table that I need to add a new field to. This new field can hold either a W or a D for wet/dry.

My question is can I

A) create a data element that holds a W or D directly

or

B) do I have to create a table structure and then a table to hold the W or D and reference this from the data element

Hi,

You can create a domain and include W and D in the value range of the domain. Now you can create a data element for this domain and use it in the table.
