ABAP Editor Settings?

I am on 4.6C different version of what I am use to. When I go into SE38 change the background turns white, but the text is light gray and I cannot add, change or delete anything? Is something wrong in my ABAP editor settings. I checked them and they looked OK.

Hi,

SE38--> type your program name > change> edit> modification operations> switch off assistant

This will solve your problam

The program may be locked for editing by its creator, check the attributes of the program.

Hi,

I think something is wrong in settings.Consult BASIS .
