Hi all,

What are the differences in version 4.3 through ECC 6 from an ABAPer's point of view...Please tell me what they introduced in the ECC versions that the no longer wanted to call it 4.8 or something like that..

What about ECC2.0?

Thanks,

Charles.

I don't think anyone could understand SAPs naming flow as it has certainly jumped around a lot over the years. I won't try to disect them here, but only offer what is avaible in ECC which is not available in earlier version.

Major new stuff in ECC releases, of course there are more.

ECC6.0 you get....

WebDynpro ABAP

New ABAP Editor

ECC5.0 you get....

New Debugger

ALV OBject Model

After 4.6C, SAP never really wanted to continue with the numbering of the Versions. The news then was that there will be a stabilized system called SAP R/3 Enterprise and there will not be any more upgrades. Every new or enhanced functionality will be via Extension Sets, Addons, Plugins etc. But people kept referring to the Enterprise Version as 47 & the name stuck. But the official name for a 47 system is 'SAP R/3 Enterprise'. And then came the deluge of all those fancy names.. mySAP ERP, NetWeaver,ECC 5,6 etc.. in short I agree with Rich.. ie I don't think anyone could understand SAPs naming flow
