Error when forwarding the request

Hi, After modifying the Access request by adding roles, and if I try to forward the request to a person (who isn't a approver in the workflow) I am getting this error in the front but in the backend the request is forwarded to the person. I have attached the screenshot.

PS. If I don't modify the request and forward, then its working fine (I get the confirmation message " the request has been forwarded").

Can any one please help me out. its not a authorization issue. is there any patch or any configuration needed to be done?

Hi D Venkata Rao,

this is missing configuration/logic error. Once you add something (role) to your access request you need to decide how the request should behave. Please go to configuration of your paths and under the task settings (of this particular stage) - section in MSMP - look for Path Reevaluation seetings for New items on access request (Role). When applied to the access request workflow, this setting allows approvers to analyze the roles in the request against the initiators to determine if another parallel workflow must be created. You can choose from the following:

  • All Roles in Evaluation Path - Reevaluate all roles.
  • New Roles Only - Reevaluate only new roles.
  • None - Do not reevaluate any roles.

This maybe the case that in the same time you are adding something to access request and system will try to re-route this access request - and you are trying to forward items on it.

Check it out,

Filip

Hi Filip,

I am attaching the screen shot of my path task settings, in my task setttings I selected the option All Roles in the request (Re evaluate)

This maybe the problem.

Your roles, which you added should go back to beginning of the path (te be re-evaluate - after you do submit) and in the same time you are trying to forward this request to somebody else.

You can not do both of this actions in the same time. Try submit first and latter once it go back to you - do forward.

Hi Filip,

the scenario is like this when I click on forward , I get this error but when I look at my work inbox the request is gone and forwarded to the person in the backend.

So I don't understand how to resolve the error page.

Hi,

what SP are you on? This looks like program error. We had similar problem with SP13.

Fix is to patch the system or apply the note.

Hi,

definitely go for service pack. SP13 is the worst patch ever.

See this out:

Check out this note:

1988128 - UAM: Missing line items with forward and return in UAR

Definitely to solve the problem go for system patching (latest SP - I believe this is SP16)!

Hi Filip,

Thanks for the info. but the issue was resolved.

for Path Reval New Role: previously it was All roles in request (Re- evaluate). I have changed it to No Path Revaluation for New Roles

the impact of this change, in this stage the Approver can't able to remove existing roles. when I try to do that I get error

"An exception has occurred"

"Request approval failed; error in MSMP approval method"

Things only get worse from SP13 onwards

Hi Rao,

I am happy to hear you have found work around. I am glad I could help and see you use my hint to update the settings Path Reevaluation settings. If any of my answer was helpful - please mark it as such for others to benefit as well.

Thanks again.
