Work Process Termination

Dear Experts,

While running background job we are facing one issue. Jobs gets finished after sometime without processing all records. i.e. if 200,000 records need to be processed, job process only 120,000 and ignores rest. status of job we can see in SM37 is "Finished". When we checked SM21, found that everytime when job gets finished, one system message gets issued with Error status. it seems work process is getting terminated after a time interval.

if anyone has any idea & solution about this issue. Please let me know.

I have tried to tag BASIS -TAG. in primary tag i could not find SAP-BASIS. i hope it will route to correct forum.

Regards,

Ashish T.

You'll get more details in the developer trace (transaction ST11, look at the file dev_w40, as the workprocess is number 40).

You may also search some information in SAP notes.

Work process might die because of many factors. One example, it will restart itself once it reaches the maximum allocated memory. In addition to Sandra Rossi's comment above, check the related logswith the same timestamp when the error occurred (ST22, SLG1)

Hi Ashish,

SystemLog screenshot (SM21 transaction) shows BTC WP 40 dying on 05/05/2017 08:46:53.
To get more information, please provide WP40 trace file (dev_w40), containing information at that timestamp. This file should be located on work folder from affected server (/usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/work).

Regards,
Raquel

Hi Ashish,

Check the WP40 trace file at that timestamp 08:46:53.
Some lines before the WP is stopped, you should find the reason.
If not, attach complete trace file.

Hello Ashish,

Is it possible to attach dev_w40 from 6/5/2017 at 08:46 time stamp here?

Also paste the "SM37 -> job log" details here.
