Webi variable using field description (not key) to filter values

Hello everyone,

I have a Webi report that contains a filter on Company Code.  On the BW Query that populates the report, this object if filtered by an authorization variable (so user only see their respective entities).

The Webi report runs correctly and will prompt the user to select a company code from this generated list (as expected).  However I've noticed that Webi will then use the TEXT and not KEY to do the filtering.  So if you have 2 values with the same description, and you select 1 of those, the WEBI report will then select both entries, even if the keys are different.

Is there a way to tell WEBI to use the key, and not description?  You can't use the KEY object to create the WEBI filter, as it's a detail object.  I also looked at the properties and there's nothing there.

Thanks,
Rudy

Hi Rudy,

This is a product limitation in BI 4.   There is a Fix Request raised for it that appears to have been addressed by Problem Report ID ADAPT01634236 in Critical Patch 2.18 (released yesterday)

It's also not an issue in SP04 (released last week).

This is documented in KBA 1714252.

I hope that helps!

oh - my mistake, this one is in regards to not letting you select multiple objects with the same description but different keys via the WebI web viewer.

KBA 1694402 is what you're describing with it returning all values based on the same description:

This is fixed in Patch 2.16 & SP04.

I hope *that* helps.
