Using SAP Query (SQ01) in Analytics Cloud

Hi everyone,

My team is looking for a way to use existing SAP queries (ABAP Queries) from the transaction SQ01 in our SAP Analytics Cloud landscape. I saw in the option menu, that there is an option for using existing ERP queries in SAC, but it is greyed out due to missing implementation.

Before we start to configure this, I want to ask you if this is mentioned to be the SAP Query from SQ01 or is this something else?

If the latter is true, is there a alternative way to consume SAP Query / migration option?

Steps to reproduce in SAC:

Hello Christian,

The first time you want to use a ABAP Query in SAC you must create a SAC Query with the option "Create a new query" (only once). After that, "Use an existing query" option will be avaliable, so you can select your Query. I usually create SAC Query with the same name as ABAP Query.

Hi Miquel,

Thank you very much for the informations. I have another question regarding the SAP queries on HANA.

I noticed, that only on SAP ERP the menu for "using existing queries" exist. On S/4HANA it is only possible to create a new query or using existing ones from a already built model. Now I am wondering whether my queries from SQ01 can also be used on S/4HANA, as the Connector for SAP ERP in SAC allowed?

When you work with S/4HANA and SAC integration the recommended object is CDS View.

But there is a trick: although your source system is a S/4HANA system, you can define this system in SAC as SAP ERP source. So, you can reuse your queries created in SAP ECC after migration to S/4HANA but there are some drawbacks like performance (CDS Views), live data connection, et cetera.

Miquel
