Hi All,

has anyone got any idea if there are any recommended standard User roles for MDM 5.5, and if there are - what are they?

Many thanks

Tim.

Hi Tim,

I refer to the standard roles back in MDM 3.0.

With MDM 5.5, because of the different building blocks of MDM5.5, the roles are differing to those in 3.0. However, you can use this conceptually to define roles w.r.t. MDM5.5.

Roles in MDM 3.0:

1. Master Data Administrator

The master data administrator performs the following administrative and technical tasks in the central master data environment:

· System landscape configuration

· Customizing and configuration

· Definition of the process chain and monitoring of the process steps

· User administration

· Error handling

2. Master Data Manager

The master data manager is responsible for managing the master data processes within a company. He or she has the overall responsibility for the master data objects required for the business processes in the company and ensures the integrity and consistency of this data. The master data manager’s tasks in detail include:

· Centrally creating and changing master data records

· Controlling and monitoring the master data processes (for example, the creation, consolidation and distribution of master data)

· Processing requests for master data to be created or changed

· Determining whether or not a newly requested master data object already exists in the central system

· Approving or rejecting the master data requests

3. Master Data Specialist

The master data specialist has expert knowledge of master data objects and supports the master data manager in the following:

· Supplementing the master data records with specific attributes (for example, purchasing data, sales data)

· Determining whether or not duplicate master data records exist (for example, if the master data manager cannot make this decision alone)

4. Local Data Manager

The local data manager is responsible for the master data in his or her local system. This includes the following tasks:

· Supplementing the master data records in the local system with locally relevant attributes

· Registering his or her local system for central master data distribution to receive specific master data records

· Querying the central master data system

· Submitting requests to create new master data or change existing master data

5. Master Data User

Master data users use the master data in their local system to perform their daily business processes, but they are not actively involved in master data management. Their tasks might include:

· Querying the central master data system to check whether master data records exist which do no exist in their local system

· Submitting requests for creating new master data or changing existing master data
