I have been looking around for documentation on enabling UI Theme Designer on SAP Cloud Platform Cloud foundry environment. Unfortunately, the official help page does not give much information even on how to access it. there is a running instance for the service and required "Editor" role is assigned to my user. Cannot see anywhere what the next steps are? The official help page, e.g. for creating themes, although it says it is for SAP Cloud Platform, includes information about the ABAP variant.
NOTE: you can launch the theme designer via your Portal Site. The "Me" button (little person icon on the top-right corner of the page) choose the settings and then appearance. There you should be able to see the button "Launch UI Theme Designer". If not, bind the service instance to your router application (the one that launches the FLP).
Please don't confuse cFLP with FLP in CF. cFLP is the Subscription you are able to make at a Global Account level. That enables a Central Fiori Launchpad that enables companies to centralize several different Launchpads into a single one. For instance, one could embed FLP from an ABAP system together with a FLP from SCP-CF and have a single point of entry to all applications within a seamless integration that is transparent to the end-user.
Thanks for your answer. The obvious problem is that one needs to go to the Portal help pages for the onboarding information of UI Theme Manager. These should be included/referred in the help pages of UI Theme Designer. If I am not blindly overlooking, this is not the case at the moment.
The last link you sent is for the problematic page I mentioned in my question. It talks about the end-to-end flow for managing themes in NW ABAP not in SCP. 😞
I'm sorry, but I missed your comment on my answer. Yes, the last link is the help documentation for the theme designer - which is where you will find information on how to manage the themes you've created. I'm sorry if there isn't a link in the documentation that helps users to figure out how to enable the theme designer for their custom FLP in SCP-CF. The last link does contain information on enabling the Theme Designer that is relevant for Neo. What most people don't realize is that you can contribute to the documentation in the help system. All you need to do is to logon (little lock icon at the top right corner of the page) and send your comments to SAP.
Anyway, it is all now sorted out - we do have separate links for FLP on Neo and FLP on CF. And I suppose the documentation will also feature a link for ABAP as well. Most probably the documentation was a little off with regards to this topic.
One thing I've noticed once I had to go back to this topic is that some things have changed for CF. Instead of the Manage Themes link under the settings in your FLP under ME button, you now need to enter a suffix in order to call your instance of Theme Designer within your FLP Router App. In order for it to work, you must update the router's node dependencies. I've updated all dependencies in all modules under the MTA for the sake of it. Here is what the documentation states now:
Hi ivan.mirisola Thanks for your response. To be honest, I prefer the Portal (FLP) service in Neo as it was much streamlined. Apart from limited use cases for FLP modules in MTA, I cannot see why SAP investing on that rather than investing more on Portal Site that can be subscribed at subaccount level to improve its capabilities. I got even confused between the use cases of Portal Module and Portal Site and Aviad helped me providing an answer to my question here: https://answers.sap.com/questions/12983074/confusing-documentation-for-scp-portal.html . My confusion was mainly because I couldn't grasp the use of Portal Module and I still do not see the business value in it (unless it becomes purely a bridge between the application and the Portal Site (Central FLP)). I would want the Portal be central which would not give away the control to another (sub)portal. It may well be only me not seeing it 🙂

I can see the UI Theme Manager under ME area which is moved to the right now in FLP. Theme Manager wont work from the custom app FLP. So create a new site in Portal Subscription, visit the site, which will open a FLP and use the Theme Manager in this site.
I was able to get to the Theme Manager, but the default themes are not loading, so i am currently unable to use the Theme Manager in SCP CF.
The Portal Subscription is the Central FLP. It is a different feature where you can integrate several different FLPs into a single entry point. To access a custom FLP with Theme Designer check the documentation I've sent to Serdar as a comment to my answer in this thread. There I've posted more links to documentation that is specific to CF.
I also try to use the Theme Designer for the Cloud Foundry Portal. See Admin flow in the documentation, not the custom developed launchpad.
I can't see the UI theme designer under the ME area, even when I assign the role Theme admin to myself. Is there anything missing to enable the Theme designer for it?
