Hi Everyone,
I've been with Oracle DB for a while, now I need to learn Sybase ASE to join the movement
For starting point, I am looking for the equivalent of Oracle Database Concept book by Oracle. Does Sybase have this kind of book? I have been searching through sybooks but still haven't found any. Sybase Administrator Guide maybe close but too much practical in the opening.
It would be nice if I can found the book.
Thanks for your help

I don't think there is a very close equivalent.
The “Transact SQL User’s Guide” would probably be the closest
in terms of a place to start, followed by the “System Administration Guide”.
As you are already familiar with Oracle, you may find this web page helpful:
http://www.peridale.co.uk/Oracle_and_Sybase_article.pdf
(It is a little dated, I notice it starts off talking about the threading model
and hasn't been updated with the information that ASE 15.7 now uses
OS threading by default).

There is some older training designed for people who know databases, but want to learn ASE. It is still available at http://download.sybase.com/presentation/linux_training/. It needs to use Windows Media Player and seems to work better with IE vs. Firefox.
