Ok, soon after posting I realised I dont need to install SWPM *just launch sapinst.

Assumptions:

I need to install SAP JVM4 on host.

Run Sapinst from downloaded SWPM1.0

Follow SAP NW7 EHP1 installation guide as normal.

Is this correct?

Hi Abu,

You are correct.

  Just download the latest SWPM as per the note 1680045.

Regarding SAPJVM installation.. You just need to download and uncar it.. Point the JAVA_HOME to the sapjvm path.. thats it.

SWPM installation is normal like SAPINST only.. Just proceed further..

Please let us know if you require any further information.

Thanks and Regards

Hello Guys,

The information provided here is not correct. SWPM has its own SAPJVM, which means you do not need to download the SAP JVM. During the installation SWPM installs the system with the SAP JVM already.

Regarding the version of the SAP JVM, it will depends the SAP system you are installing.

- System based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0x  = SAP JVM 4.1

- System based on SAP NetWeaver 7.1x  = SAP JVM 5.1

- System based on SAP NetWeaver 7.3x  = SAP JVM 6.1

In additional, you can find the Installation Guides for SWPM at:

http://www.service.sap.com/sltoolset ->

Software Logistics Toolset 1.0 ->

[Scroll down the page] Software Provisioning Manager ->

Installing Systems Based on NW 7.1 or Higher-SW Prov.Mgr.1.0

Also please remember checking SAP note #1680045 for further reference regarding the SWPM and also the Kernel media you have to use during the installation.

Best Regards,
