Switch off SID generation for DSO

Hello All,

We currently have one DSO object with automatic SID generation upon activation ON.

This DSO object contains lot of data.

Now we are planning to create one cube on top of this DSO and planning to switch off the auto SID generation. Since no reporting will be done on this DSO ?

Is it possible ? Do we need to delete the data in DSO before switching off the auto SID checkbox ?

Hi Ravi,

You can use the option ''SID generation on activation option'' when ever reports are required to creat on the ODS. Because if you this option report perfomance will be improved.

As you not using any Queries on this ODS need not check this option.

While fetching the data from the ODS to Cube you need not delete the data from ODS.

Time required to transport the ODS to Production is independant of the Data volume.

Do you know, whether the transport to switch off the auto SID will take long time to import into production system,when there is a huge volume of data ?

Or it is independent of data in the DSO ?

hi,

I am not sure of whether it would take huge amount of time. But I have seen a case when the data volume is huge in the data target and it dose take time for the transport.

Dear all,

we just faced the same problem to switch off "SID Generation upon activation" and transport to production for seven DSOs which contained even more than 100 mio records each. The transport only took a few minutes!
