Suitable Practice System for GUI based ABAP development

Hi fellow SAP Learners and Developers,

I am Shakthi Pranesh, and recently I got verified and got access to SAP Learning Hub Student edition subscription, and I am utilise it to learn ABAP development.

I am able to find the practice systems for ABAP development for S/HANA, ADT and RAP.

The problem I am facing is, I could not find a suitable Practice System for GUI based ABAP development, I need GUI to learn few things from it and I wish to do some experiments and practice in that system.

So please help me to find the right practice system at SAP Learning Hub which suitable for GUI based ABAP development, if you already know any please let me know.

While there is no future, as already noted, for SAP GUI development there is however an awful lot of present development which will not be thrown away any time soon and which will need to be maintained, so the desire to learn is positive.

At the moment the ABAP Cloud Developer Trial on Docker is not available and this would have been my first recommendation because it is easy to get started. Read the whole thread first, so you'll be able to decided whether to wait or not.

If you want to get started now, an older option is to set up your own Linux VM and install AS ABAP 7.52 SP04, Developer Edition: this requires substantially more effort and knowledge, the process is fairly well documented but familiarity with Linux and cmdline tools is between "helpful" and "required". Word of caution here, too: it has been EOL'd, so get it before the deadline or it is gone forever.
