I have set up a report with multiple subreports. For whatever reason, when I preview the report, the detail sections that include the subreports do not show. When I look along the left side, the D[x] section label isn't there. I checked, and nothing is set to suppress, not even the "Suppress Blank Subreport". I would have expected them to show up. Is my expectation off-base?

Have you checked the properties of the subreports themselves to make sure they're not suppressed? Right-click on the subreport and go to "Format Subreport". Also, in the subreport properties and the section properties, click on the Suppress formula button to make sure there's nothing there that might be causing them to suppress.
For testing purposes, I would put a text box with, for example, the name of the subreport, in it in the Report Header section of the subreport and make sure that section is not suppressed. Then run your full report again. If nothing is being suppressed, this text should appear for each subreport where you've added it. If the text appears and there's no data, then you've got an issue with either the filter based on the sub-report links or with the way you're linking data together in the subreport if there are multiple tables.
