Dear PI Experts,
I am new to SAP PI and would like to know can we send/read standard SAP proxy messages to custom proxy messages. As their is a limitation in SAP PI for EDIFACT standard adapter I need to convert standard proxy messages to EDIFACT structure XML messages.
My situation is as below:
Outbound - SAP TM - SAP PI - NON SAP
Inbound - NON SAP - SAP PI - SAP TM
SAP TM will trigger a standard Proxy message to SAP PI and at SAP PI I want to move this data to EDIFACT structure XML message. This is required because the NON SAP system can accept only EDIFACT format XML messages. This is also vise verse, NON SAP system will send EDIFACT structure XML message to SAP PI and from their I need to pass this to standard proxy message to update SAP TM.
Please help me how to pass standard proxy message data to EDIFACT structure XML message and vice verse.
What are the step by step development/configuration required at SAP PI for such scenarios.
Thanks in advance.

Md.Rafi
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Rafi,
By Standard Proxy, do you mean you are using Standard SAP XI Content / objects for mapping.
Did you check if the Standard content is having Mapping in it for converting Proxy Message to required EDIFACT XML message in it?
If yes, then you can re-used that objects in your Configuration
If no, then you need to do the Mapping between your Proxy structure to EDIFACT XML as per the Business requirement / specifications provided by your Functional team.
Hope it helps.

Azhar

Hi Azhar,
Thanks for the reply.
We are using standard SAP XI content of SAP TM 1.10 & SAP TM 1.10C. With this content their are standard interface for booking request. I had configured this at SAP XI and I am receiving messages at SAP XI from SAP TM. Now, I would like to move required fields of this standard proxy message to custom stucture and pass that to non sap system as an XML message.
Now, I do not know what steps to be followed to read this standard proxy xml data to pass that to custom stucture and send that as an XML file to non SAP system.
Also, let me know I need to use webservice or file option to send this data to non sap system.
I checked with non sap system they can accept webserices.
Please help me how can I use this generated proxy data (SAP TM to SAP PI) at SAP PI to pass it to custom strcuture and send that to non sap system.

Md.Rafi
Hi Rafi,
I would like to move required fields of this standard proxy message to custom stucture and pass that to non sap system as an XML message.
>>>I believe by move you imply that you need to map the corresponding Source Structure fields to XML target Structure fields? You can achieve this using Message Mapping in PI.
Once you trigger the proxy from Source SAP system, it will be received in PI system in XML format (corresponding to the Source XSD structure for this Sender side message). You can map it to corresponding Target Structure using Graphical MM in PI.
Also, let me know I need to use webservice or file option to send this data to non sap system.
I checked with non sap system they can accept webserices
>>>Since your 3rd party sys can accept Webservices..you can configure Proxy to SOAP scenario in PI. Request your 3rd Party team to share the WSDL file for this Interface. You can use this WSDL file as Receiver side structure and for Mapping the required fields from Source Proxy to WSDL fields in target. Also the WSDL will have the Endpoint URL, which you need to configure in your Receiver SOAP communication channel.
What is your PI version? You can refer following link as reference for Proxy to SOAP scenario for Dual Stack version. If your PI is single stack, you can config the Interface on AAE.
Hope it helps

Hi Azhar,
Thanks for the reply.
We are on SAP PI 7.1. Receiving system says now they cannot except web services so need to go with FTP option.
Can you please let me know what steps need to be followed in ESR and IB to meet scenario.
Please can you share me any link or document referring which i can try to build this interface.
Thanks in advance.

Md.Rafi
Hi Rafi,
In this case you can configure Proxy to FTP scenario.
ESR:
1. Define all the Objects in ESR (Source & Target Structures : DT, MT, MM, SI, OM). Since for Source you already have the structures from Standard content, you can re-use it.
2. For the Target structure, request the 3rd party to share the structure layout that they require as per their system, (if they have XSD available for this you can ask them to share and you can import it in ESR)...
3. What kind of File structure they required in the FTP folder...XML, Flat file, CSV? Get the corresponding structure details (you may need to go for FCC conversion in Receiver CC if the required format is either Flat or CSV)
ID:
Create the Configuration scenario and channels with proper FTP details.
You can refer to following for reference:
SAPTechnical.COM - ABAP Proxy Communication Scenario (Client Proxy)

Hi Azhar,
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience & Knowledge.
I will follow the steps as suggested by you and follow the link shared by you for your point 1 & 2.
For point 3 receiving system needs File structure in XML format. Below are the steps i will follow let me know if I am wrong on any steps.
Full Interface-
SAP TM -> SAP PI -> Receiving system
ESR -
1. will create target details like DT, MT & SI
2. will create Message mapping between std proxy message type of sap tm and created target message type
3. will create a operation mapping with SI of SAP TM as source and custom SI as Target
Integration builder -
1) Create the configuration scenario
2) Assign Business System or Business component to be assigned for configuration scenario
3) Configure the sender(XI)/receiver(File) communication channels
4) Create Receiver determination - Sender as SAP TM and Receiver as Non SAP system
5) Configure Interface determination - Sender as SAP TM and Receiver as Non SAP system
6) Configure Receiver agreement - Non SAP System
7) Create Sender Agreement - SAP TM
Let me know if I am missing or wrong on above steps.

Md.Rafi
