Single selection hierarchy filtering with Input Controls

Hello Community,

Is it currently possible or planned to allow an Input Controls' selection type = Single Selection Hierarchy? I would like to limit my filters to the base (leaf) members only, but while also benefiting from my hierarchy structures.

This feature is currently available with data actions, I am able to setup a prompt that forces the user to choose a base (leaf) member of my hierarchy. 

I understand I can change the Show Hierarchy to Flat Presentation, but this quickly becomes overwhelming with lots of records. I also found a workaround with Scripting, but neither of these solutions are ideal. I would love to hear if anyone has other ideas.

Currently hierarchy view is only available with multiselections in Input Control. There is an influence request for this feature which you should upvote.
