Script in SAP Build Process Automation

Hello,

since the news is out that BTP Workflow Management will be replaced by Build Process Automation, I'm trying to rebuild my existing Workflows. BUT, I haven't found any equivalent to Script Tasks, which I used a lot in the BTP Workflow. Am I missing something? I saw scripts in the "automation" section, but I won't have any agents available etc. so I'm not sure if that would be a way to incorporate your own coding.

Thanks for the question. If you check our roadmap, you will find full list of features across different themes : process modelling, governance and integration. We are making SAP Build Process Automation feature rich so that the users can build the simple and complex workflows in new process builder with much better user experience - as it was possible from Business Application Studio in WFM. thank you very much for your response. Can you/SAP give advice on how to pursue with more complex Workflow Scenarios where more coding is expected/required? Oftentimes you don't know when you start your project, so it seems risky to start new Workflow with SAP Build if the functionality is restricted.

That puts as consultants in a difficult decision to explain to SAP customers that a really good solution for WF will be retired and we don't know if the requirements can be fulfilled with the replacement.

We have the same challenges. Currently I try to "migrate" our complex workflows in SAP Build Process Automation in form of "Advance Workflow" part of a process. To see and understand what is possible and what not. That as solution for starting projects now , where we can't wait on functionality planed for 2023

So also very looking forward for Archana's / SAP colleagues advise.

Hello Christopher,

We have plans to include expression editor in Q1 2023 and using that expression editor (with inbuilt functions), you can do lightweight modifications in your process context like how you did in script task. We do not have plans to bring in javascript based editors to low-code/no-code tools.

I understand your question is about using script task, I wanted to point out that your existing work can be reused in SAP Build Process Automation.
