SCP Neo migration to CF - Developing a Solution with multiple Apss

Hello,

i haee a doubt about Neo vs CF Enviroments, because i recently develop a solution for a client with 15 Apps in Neo, with backend services, IDP, hana services, portal flp, etc etc.

I was wondering about if it is posible to migrate the solution to the Foundry enviroment and what is the impact about configuring the security, the routes between aps, if there is principal propagation in CF, and what other things to considere.

Hi Carlos,

SAP Cloud Platform Cloud Foundry environment is strategically the go-to environment going forward. For any new app in SAP Cloud Platform, please consider Cloud Foundry and not Neo. Cloud Foundry environment has almost all the services and more.

Customers are already looking at migrating apps from Neo and Cloud Foundry.

Dear Carlos,

can you please describe in more detail what kind of apps you've developed? Only SAPUI5 apps deployed as HTML5 apps that connect to a backend via the destinations? Or have you created also some kind of middleware in the Java runtime?

@Gregor, yes all the solutions is with html5 apps, with destiantiosn to the hana service and to the ERP systems. All deployed to a flp portal with different roles .

Did not use a java middleware but there is considerable logic at the xsjs objects at Hana.

Hi Carlos,

if this project was started in 2020 you should offer your client a free migration as especially doing logic in the XS Classic programming model is deprecated for quite some time.

In the meantime all services that you mentioned are available in SAP CP Cloud Foundry. Also the Portal Service got finally support for transports. The backend connectivity supports principal propagation. For the user authentication you can use every SAML2 compatible IdP. Regarding the logic implemented in HANA I would suggest that you look into the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model. The UI5 apps can be deployed to the HTML5 Application Repository.
