Hi,
I am new to Solution Manager environment.
While through the documentation, I am stuck with the terminology "Satellite System".
Please help me in understanding the technology.
Thanks in advance.

Request clarification before answering.
A satellite system is simply a system being managed by Solution Manager. For example, if you had a development system, a QA system, a production system and a Solution Manager system, the development, QA and production systems are "satellite" systems to the Solution Manager system.

Steven,
Thanks for the reply.
So, can I understand the Satellite System this way:
Solution Manager is the Central System (Parent), and the all the other mySAP Suite of Products (CRM, SCM, SEM, ECC etc) are the clild systems and connected to Solution Manager for configuration and monitoring.
One more question:
Do we have the Development, Quality, Testing and Production clients existing for Solution Manager even as the other systems?
Thanks,
Balaji
hello gurus,
Please share your experience from your projects regarding the Solution Manager. What can be the landscape?
I would appreciate and request you to share any implmentation methodologies, and guides etc. (Have downloaded the docs from the service marketplace).
Steven,
Thanks for the inputs.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Balaji,
Satellite System's is the terminology in Solution Manger ...
Eg:- Solution Manager is a separate box comparing to SAP R/3, BI, EP...etc.... we need to install SoutionManager with latest and highest hardware....
after installing SM need to configure the Satellite systems they are ( BI server,EP Server, ECC6 Server etc..). to SolutionManager. like MOPZ,EWA, SERVICEDESK etc...
The main use with SOLMAN is ... if you want to download the patchs,s/w anyting from SAP Service Market place .... these has to be approved by SolutionManager.
and we can monitor all the satellite systems in one machine at a time...

Hello Balaji,
Solution manager can seat on any system and can be logically connted with different box. you can have one solman for dev and another copy of solman for prod, or you can have one copy of solman for both and would like to use transport manaer to transport your request from dev to prod.
Hope this answers your question and please dont forget to assign points.
