SAPUI5, Component.js onInit always automatically gets called?

Dear Experts,

I am doing the walkthrough from the SAPUI5 sdk documentation, and I am now at step 9:

In this step we move the variable oData and i18nModel to the Component.js, I did this but then view does not get the text from the i18n, I suspect somehow the Component.js onInit does not get called..

btw, odatamodel, i18n are specified in manifest, not in component
