Hello Shankar,
MDM what are its uses, why should one opt for MDM,
Some Business Scenarios are Consolidation, Harmanization, CMDM, GDS, RPCM, documents are available on sdn site.
Then you can refer to https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/installmdm71 for all the information related to MDM.
MDM Mainly works with Console, Import Manager, Data Manager, Syndicator and Publisher relevant documents are available on the mentioned site
And as ravi has mentioned SIT, is system integration testing, where you import the data from R/3 system into MDM do some data modification and send it back to R/3 system.
Same is for UAT, where instead of you testing the user tests the system.
regards,
Abhishek

Hi Shankar,
This will be scenario and landscape specific to a large extend.
One has to run SIT as well as UAT.
For SIT Exchange some data imports and data exports. And then investigate the behavior of each data field within each individual layer.
For UAT handover the system to users and let them run all the business scenarios.
Individual cases and scripts will have to be written for each of the scenarios/
Thanks,
Ravi
