Hi experts,

I successfully installed and started SAP GUI for Java 7.50 rev 9 on openSUSE Leap 15.1 and Ubuntu 18.04.

When I try to add a new connection I expect to see an entry "Web AS ABAP" in the Connection Type dropdown as per various documentation. But this entry is not displayed. Only "R/3" and "Web Dynpro" are displayed.

In the trace file no error is shown. Please advise.

EDIT:
Selecting "R/3" and "Expert Mode" in the Advanced tab solved my issue of connecting to a local Web AS ABAP.
Without Expert Mode it is impossible to configure the Connection. Is this the intended behaviour, e.g. the System ID is removed from the input field immediately when pressing Enter?

Thank you and best regards,
Kai

Hello Kai,

Connection type "R/3" is a bug and will corrected to "Web AS ABAP" in the next revision.

Defining a connection by choosing from a list of system names only works when SAP UI Landscape is defined. Please refer to https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ATopics/SAP+GUI+Family#section9, "SAP UI Landscape Configuration Guide".

Best regards
