Good day,
I have a question regarding Data Preperation in the Meta Data Explorer in SAP Data Intelligence.
How is the data taken from the source table? Is the data persisted in the Data Lake within SAP Data Intelligence? Is this only a view on the source table?
And where is this preperation stored so that it can also be viewed as a file and its contents?
Is there any information about this?
Thank you very much,
Jürgen

Hi Jürgen,
as far as I know, the preview of data in a sourcesystem is only a view.
If you apply a preperation on it, you have to store the data in the data lake.
But I don't know where the preperation is stored.
Best regards,
Tobias

Jürgen,
The DI Cloud help docs give an overview of the Data Preparation topic: https://help.sap.com/viewer/305fdeeaf7e84ff38cfeff576184472c/Cloud/en-US/a3bbcbcad27c4ca6b675c710237...
Addressing your specific questions:
How is the data taken from the source table? Is the data persisted in the Data Lake within SAP Data Intelligence? Is this only a view on the source table?
> This depends on the source, but the initial Preparation view is a sample of the overall dataset. Data Intelligence will apply the Preparation recipe/steps to the full dataset when you actually Run the Preparation - where you'll have the option to store the resulting table/file. This link shows the valid targets: https://help.sap.com/viewer/305fdeeaf7e84ff38cfeff576184472c/Cloud/en-US/73657fc9fc3a4bf2945441c4829...
And where is this preparation stored so that it can also be viewed as a file and its contents?
> You can see the Preparations from the Metadata Explorer main page on the top left panel under "View Preparations" or you can navigate to the Data Preparation context from the Fact Sheet if you're browsing the catalog or connections.
