SAP Cloud SDK JavaScript OData Generator Error

Hello all,
I am facing an issue while generating the OData Client for this service specification: https://api.sap.com/api/ECPositionManagement/overview (download the EDMX from the Details tab).

The Cloud SDK application was generated starting from the scaffold code that can be found at https://github.com/SAP/cloud-s4-sdk-examples.git.

The OData Client Generator fails with the not-so-explicit message:

Cannot read property 'name' of undefined

At the same time, while trying to generate services from a "real" metadata file downloaded from a productive instance of SuccessFactors, fails with:

Cannot read property 'startsWith' of undefined

Is there a way to have a more verbose log for the generator?

Did anyone face the same issue?

I have to apologize again for the delay, somehow this slipped through my notifications...

I debugged the issue and there is actually a bug in the generator. We will let you know as soon as it's fixed.

Here we are again a couple of months later 🙂

I took over the project I was working on when I got stuck into the generator issue. I re-started it from scratch using the latest versions of the sdk-core and the sdk-generator.

Unfortunately, the issue seems to still be there. As soon as I try to use a real metadata file downloaded from my customer's SuccessFactors instance, the generator fails again with:

Cannot read property 'startsWith' of undefined

Do you have any update on this issue? I saw the release notes of the JavaScript SDK and there are many upgrades/fixes on the generator, maybe this specific one was not yet addressed?

I'll be happy to share the metadata file I am using if it could be of any help.

Thank you for your answer.

I forgot to mention the the issue is indeed gone when using model specifications coming from the Business Hub (i.e. the Position Management API now works perfectly).

I am starting from an EDMX model that was not taken from the API Business Hub but directly from the metadata.xml coming from my SuccessFactors instance. For example, the EmploymentInfo entity has some extensions (custom fields, custom navigations) which I need to consume.

This EDMX file makes the OData generator to fail with the generic error mentioned in my comment above.
I know this EDMX file is a huge one that provides access to the entire data model of the system, so maybe I am stretching it too much, but to give you a comparison, the same EDMX file is processed correctly by the Java based odata generator.

Using the Java based generator (not the maven plugin, but the command-line jar), there is also the option to select which entities should be processed, so even if the EDMX is huge the generated result can be tailored to what the application really needs.
