Hi,

I am looking for a way to read data from the cloud logging service. Is there a possibility here?

Hi @akuller

Thanks for reaching out.

The default way to read data from Cloud Logging would be to use the OpenSearch Dashboard. If you are referring to extract data directly via API of OpenSearch - we realize the benefits of access to the backend. We are working on investigating an easier provisioning of read-only-user to allow such access, minimizing the scope of database mismanagement and securing credentials.

We will publish the timeline ones we conclude the investigation.

Best Regards, Cloud Logging Team

This would be a huge benefit to us. Especially for those of wanting to use OpenSearch MCP Server (https://opensearch.org/blog/introducing-mcp-in-opensearch) to use AI to query our data.

We fully acknowledge the benefit of OpenSearch API access. However based on our initial investigation it requires additional perquisites to be implemented before security standard approves it - which we schedule to work on H2,2026 (validating OIDC/JWT/Cert based auth in addition to just basic auth, user roles management with reduced scope and shared responsibility for effects of using of the APIs)
