after i created an alias from SAP_BW. under system admin i select the user i created.In the i click on the usermapping tab in tht i select systems ..but i cant set the username and pswd for SAP_BW alias.Can anybody explain me wht is the problem.

Hi,

This happens when the user you are trying to assing is not present in system pemissions. To add the user open the system permissions and add the user to which you want to define the mapping. Then you will be able to see the system.

In the system properties check what value do you have for "user mapping type" property. It should be admin,user. Pls make the changes and check.

In your system proerties

you need to select the logon method as 'UIDPW' inorder to user user mapping

Also check the portal server is able to access the BW system
