SAP Business application studio, sqlite connection issue

I have implemented service in the business application studio and tried to connect with Sqlite by using the command 'npm install [email protected] -D' . Successfully installed and deployed using a bookshop.db file inside my project folder. When I am trying to establish a sqlite connection system is showing the error as "you need to install "[email protected]' to connect to undefined.

Can you explain the steps you're doing in details?

How are you trying to create the connection? Using the UI/Settings?

The below steps I am following.

1. creating project with command "cds init projectname".

2. Created schema.cds file with two different entities(books and authors) inside the db folder.

3.Created a catalog-service.cds file to expose the entities.

4.used command "npm install [email protected] -D" to install sqlite inside my project and it is successful.

5.then deploy the file by using this command "cds deploy --to sqlite:bookshop.db". This is also fine. cds details got updated in the file package.json.

6. with the command "pwd" I got the folder path as '/home/user/projects/bookshop2". Inside the bookshop2 folder, i have bookshop.db file which was generated in step5.

7. I have tried to create sqlite connection with path '/home/user/projects/bookshop2/bookshop.db'. But while testing the connection I have received the error pop-up that I have posted.

I have started learning business application studio but got struck while creating the connection.

Hi Vikram Polinati,

We will investigate the issue you've mentioned.

In the meanwhile there's a much more convenient way to run the application and create the connection, using the 'Run configuration' tool.

In the tutorial you'll see how to create a connection to an SAP HANA db. However, If your package.json contains a reference to db of kind 'sqlite' and not 'hana', you can follow similar steps as described in the tutorial to bind your db, and automatically get a connection in the SQLTools view.

I have followed the tutorial that you have been shared. I am facing an issue here also :), the details are as follows. while implementing the steps that are mentioned the link Deploy Your Business Application to Cloud Foundry I am getting the following error when I clicked on the binding icon.

When I clicked bind Icon, the system has prompted to enter the username(email) and password and instance name(selected the trial account instance), after that I am getting the below error. Am I missing any configuration, please suggest me. Thank you for your prompt responses.

Hi Vikram,

It seems like another error. This one indicates that you have no HANA service in the space you are logged in to.

Have you created an instance?

Hi Vikram,

Just delete the CDS section created by SQL lite and paste this on package.json keeping the rest fine. It would work, coz I faced the same SQL lite error like you initially but resolved it by this way and now all looks good.

"cds": { "requires": { "db": { "kind": "hana" } } } }

Do the below in terminal :

$ npm install(on your project folder)

$ npm add sqlite3 --save-dev

You are right, I was not started the Hana Cloud instance. I have started the instance and logged in, then it is started working. But for SQLlite3, still I was not able to continue. But ok with Hana :). Will close this issue once sqlite3 issue got resolved, please let me know, if it resolved.

I have used the same configuration as you mentioned, but because of SAP Hana cloud instance was not in running state, the system has raised an exception. Thank you for your support.

Got a confirmation from SAP dev team that there was a bug fix over the weekend that should’ve fixed this. Please retry once more. I have checked from my side and the data connection with SQLite works now.
