Hi all,
I am new to SAP Analytics Cloud however I have some experience in creating ML models in Microsoft Azure.
My business scenario is as follows:-
1. Extract csv/excels from various sources.
2. Perform data wrangling/clean up
3. Depending upon the scenario, pipe the model to Classifiers (Binary Logistics regression) or Regression algorithms.
4. Once the model is trained evaluate the model's efficacy.
Having gone through SAP help files I am seeing SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Predictive Analytics Desktop Edition. Which one would be the better fit ? Also in what circumstance a client would go for SAP Analytics cloud vs SAP Predictive Analytics Desktop ?
Request clarification before answering.
Hello abhishek_chowdhury sorry for the late answer as it seems I have missed this thread.
SAP Predictive Analytics is our on-premise tool for predictive analytics, currently in mainstream maintenance phase til end of 2022 (see https://blogs.sap.com/2020/01/27/sap-predictive-analytics-maintenance-policy). SAP Predictive Analytics provides multiple techniques, including time series, classification, regression and more. SAP Predictive Analytics is no longer actively developed in sense of new features, it is maintained.
SAP Analytics Cloud provides classification, regression and time series techniques to serve the analytics needs of end-users, be it for reporting / visualization / business understanding purposes or be it for planning purposes.
In this context predictive analytics is not meant for operational purpose (as you would integrate predictions into a CRM system for instance) but rather to support decisions, eg what will be my planned expenses for the rest of the year. I hope this is helpful to you as a starting point.
Best regards
Antoine Chabert (product manager for both SAP Predictive Analytics and SAP Analytics Cloud predictive scenarios)
