Are backups taken of the SAP analytics cloud system by SAP? Is it possible to revert our complete SAP analytics system to a previous days backup?
My problem is that we have various models that use a BW import connection. The BW connection was deleted and re-created but doing this has meant all the models lost their import jobs and schedules. I have restored the original BW connection from a backup with a data model and wrangler but no import job had been restored. Is there a way to restore my import jobs?
Thanks in advance, hoping I don't have to build them all again from scratch.

Hello Clive,
Browse >> Files >> Deleted Files option only allow restoration of stories/ digital boardroom objects. Unfortunately deleted connections and schedules do not go in recycle bin.
Other option would be to migrate objects (entire flow) from other tenant. Provided source tenant also have same objects with same schedule. Delta pointer will be missing. So, re initializing the delta pointer will be a task.
Now all cloud products (including SAC) gets backup by default. Although backup is not at application level. Beside SAC contract do not cover restoration of application objects let alone the entire tenant. Still if this is a big impact for your company, you can talk to your current SAP AE.
To be honest best option would be to re-create them again, if restoration from other tenant is not an option.
Thanks,
Debjit

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately I ended up rebuilding the more complex models and stories and import jobs, not an easy task when there are issues with the modeller not correctly recognising data types of the BW query fields. I’m still waiting for a call back from SAP regarding a possible restore even though it was raised as a priority 1. If SAP are serious about SAC being an enterprise solution then they need to offer a robust and reliable backup & restore process. I did have backups of the models but again this is not a reliable system as the backups can only be restored in the same SAC version they were backed up from. So once the version has changed then all your backups are useless.

Also according to this SAP note, it's clear that not all objects can be restored 😞

I see today KBA 3026603 - Backup Process for SAP Analytics Cloud was updated
and now SAP suggests "Content backup should be managed via Content Administration by customer self"

Alternatively, see the following how-to blog that discusses How to automatically backup/archive & restore your plan data (into a backup model).

Hi Clive,
Backups are being taken from your tenant. I had a customer were we had to restore after the DevOps team made a mistake. So please contact your Account Executive from SAP as a first point of contact, and in the meantime also submit an incident on the SAP Support Portal.
