SAP Analytic Cloud Agent - Technical Documentation

Hi,

At the moment I'm doing an in depth learning into some SAC Topics. One of the first topic was the SAP Analytics Cloud Agent. I can find some Integration Guidlines (Installation, Purpose etc), but none in depth technical Documentation.

Is there any Document, which provides more Information on how this Agent build up the Connections between the Systems. Is there some kind of Mapping?

Hello Dennis,

I am also a learner in SAC. But something I would like to share form my recent SAC setup. I hope this will help you. In my case, I was connecting SAC with our in-house BUSINESS OBJECTS UNIVERSES.

First step here is CLOUD CONNECTOR before SAC AGENT which acts as a tunnel between SAC and BOBJ within in-house firewalls. To achieve connectivity you have to take your NETWORK TEAM help to open connectivity between SAC (IPs given) and BOBJ Server (IP) using port 443 and protocol TCP. Connectivity can be checked using TELNET and PING. Later, you must install and configure the CLOUD CONNECTOR and SAC AGENT with all required details.

Now, you can use another TOMCAT separate install to install and deploy (SAC War File) SAC AGENT which I consider best instead of hampering existing TOMCAT.

Once Tunnel (Cloud Connector) is setup, SAC AGENT will help to retrieve data from BOBJ to SAC whenever user try to connect. SAC AGENT is the key for data retrieval whereas CLOUD CONNECTOR is one-time tunnel setup only.

Later you got to configure DATABASE CONFIGURATION in SAC TENANT as well for complete setup along with creating a connection to your BOBJ system to retrieve data using universes.
