Hello,
since some time Eclipse has quarterly releases. As a user you can just install "latest" and you get the update automatically, which is nice and works well for me since this was introduced.
SAP has added a "latest" repository to their Eclipse Software Sites (see SAP Development Tools (ondemand.com)). The problem with that is, that packages are moving in and out of this site, i. e. the SAP HANA Tools. Last year they were available in latest. Then they got pulled after the Eclipse release. Then they were again in latest. At the time of writing HANA tools are only available for 2020-09 and 2020-12.
The problem is that I offer our users an automated Eclipse installation. I was happy to see the "latest" repository and assumed it would be a rolling update as well. But now I get errors with new installations each time that SAP decided to remove a tool from "latest".
This makes "latest" useless for my purposes and I still must update the repository site from time to time manually, just like my users must.
It would be great if SAP could reconsider this and remove a package only then from latest if it is deprecated and announced to be not supported anymore for newer versions.
Perhaps someone has a better idea on how to automate the Eclipse installation including plugin installation.
Thanks,
Christian.
