Restricted & Calculated Key figures and Structures

Hello Gurus,

I'm using a BW Query to create my universe and all I see is a class called Key Figures and few objects. I don't see my restricted and Calculated Key figures.

Also I want to understand how are the Structures in BW Query brought into Universe? All I see is a column class and row class with corresponding objects in it.

Environment: BO XI 3.1

hi Vijay,

are you creating the universe on top of the BW query or the BW InfoCube ? If you use the InfoCube directly there will be no restricted or calculated keyfigures - with the query there are.

on the structure: a custom structure will be mapped to a single dimension objects and when refreshig the report each element of the structure will be shown as a line item in the report

Hi Ingo,

Sorry for getting back a little late on this issue. I've been trying to fix other issues. I'm creating my report out of BW Query and I'm not able to see all the Restricted Key Figures. Also when I try to create my report out of existing key figures and verify the data with BW analyzer the data seems to be different.

What happens is in my universe I've two classes naming Rows_xyz, Column_abc etc and there are like 25 objects in Rows_xyz when there are supposed to be like 60 key figures and in Column class I have a single object. When I pull in this coulmn obect and pull like 3-4 key figures (which I made sure have data from BW Query Analyzer) doesn't return any data. It doesn't even throw an error as No data to fetch.

I took the MDX Query that is generated by this report and ran it on the backend and see that there is no data even there. But from the BW Query Analyzer I can see data for this Column and the key figures that I pulled in the report.

Hi Vijay,

did you get any warnings when you activated the info provider (multiprovider?) that the BW query uses?

What is the version and patch level of the SAP BW system you want to fetch data from?

There is 1 error message and 1 warning on the query.

Errors: Hierarchy "BW_XXXX" does not exist for InfoObject Company

Messages for Current Query

Hi Vijay,

I meant the info provider (eg.infocube) that your query is based upon not the query itself. Please ask your SAP administrator or your data architect (ie. the guy who created the info provider) to help you with this.

I checked with my architect and he doesn't see any error on Infocube. Infact he ran the same query on Analyzer for the same values and he is able to see the data there.

are there also no warnings (like CMP-issue related messages) when activating the infoprovider?

I would need the exact version of your SAP BW server (incl. Patch level). Ask your SAP admin for this.

I've found out from my architect and there aren't any warnings while activating the Infoprovider.

SAP BW version: 7.0 patch 18

Hi,

you may be hitting the case described here: [https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1251504]

In this case it is advisable to upgrade your SAP BW server by installing Support Package 20 or higher.

It a huge procedure to upgrade our existing BW Environment. Hence we may not be able to test it right away. I've read SAP Note 1321359 that describes problems about MDX Query. We have queries where all the key figures have a Technical Name. But when at the row level when I double click on the key figure I don't see technical name. Do we have to assign a Technical Name at that level too? I'll try this note and see if that'll help resolve the issue.

Hi Vijay,

when you create a universe on a BW query you should expect to find in its classes it all key figures and characteristics that are assigned to one of the following three sections when you open the BEx Query using the Query Desginer:

a) Free characteristics

b) Rows

c) Columns

You should be able to see all calculated and restricted key figures that you have draged and dropped those in one of the above areas. If you are still missing one of those keys or characteristics, then please post here the version of the BOBJ software you are using.
