Hello,

Is it possible to change the technical name of a process chain in BW 3.5? Or do I have to rebuild the process chains from scratch to change the name?

Regards,

Christoffer

You copy the process chain with different technical name & delete the previous one.

You'll get copy option in menu only after opening the original process chain.

I expected a copy function to exist. But I find no Copy function in the "Process Chain" menu, even if I have opened the process chain. May special authorizations be required to get this option?

Once you open the PC in change mode. Click on first/second menu option. There you'll get several options. "copy" will be there.

Unfortunately it's not.

I'll ask someone else to look at it in case it's an authorization issue.

Dear Christoffer,

U will not find COPY function in the Menu Bar.

Just write "COPY" in the TCODE area and press enter.

Then it prompts for New technical name

Hope this helps u..

Hi Christoffer,

You can't rename the technical name of the process chain.

But you can COPY the process chain by selecting the process chain (START variant) and then type "COPY" in transaction code area and press enter.

Then a copy of the old process chain is created and you can have a new technical name fo rthe new one.

NOTE: You should delete the start variant of the new process chain and create a new start variant bcoz if you run the PC with the same old start variant, you may face some errors. So, you need to create a new start variant and then activate and schedule the chain.

Assign points if this helps u...

Hi,

In BW 3.5 we dont get the option to copy from menu bar.

Just enter ''copy'' in the address bar and press enter.

you will get the option to enter the new technical name and description.

Only in BI 7 version we will be having the copy option in menu bar.
