Hi Victor,

The official version of the 7.1 Release Notes has not been released yet, but I can give you the following highlights.

The Release to Customer of SAP NetWeaver IdM 7.1 is planned for end of November 2008, which signals the beginning of the Ramp-Up process.

With the new version of SAP NetWeaver Identity Management we enhance the IdM technology foundation to build pre-packaged business scenarios and integration. The highlights of this release are:

- The PHP-based web interfaces for Workflow and Monitoring are replaced with a WebDynpro based user interface deployed on SAP NetWeaver AS Java 7.0 or 7.1. The two interfaces are now combined in the Identity Management User Interface. Installation and initial configuration is described in SAP NetWeaver Identity Management Identity Center: Installing and configuring the Identity Management User interface.

- The way tasks are executed in the Identity Management User interface has been changed, to align with best practice and with SAP NetWeaver.

In version 7.0 and earlier, the user would first select a task, and then search for the entry/entries to perform the task on. From version 7.1, the user will have a general search dialog to search for an entry. Then the user can select one of the entries in the search result, and get a list of available tasks which can be performed on that entry.

- To achieve tighter integration with SAP NetWeaver, the configuration is deployed on SAP NetWeaver AS Java and logging is performed using the SAP Logging Framework.

- The identity store access control has been enhanced by using relations between the subject (the user performing the operation) and object (the entry being changed). By using the relations, complex SQL statements for checking access can be avoided, and performance should in general be improved.

- New features are added for improving the task layout in the User Interface, such as tabs and multiple columns.

- With Identity Management 7.1 the GRC integration supports for SAP GRC Access Enforcer 5.3 SP1 and SP2.

You'll probably need to check with your SAP Sales rep for this information. I've not seen a recent roadmap released for public consumption.
