Populate address fields based on postal code.

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement of populating address fields by entering zip-code. For that, we are using a web service call to an external API service. For that, we are implementing the logic for each and every object(customer, contact, employee etc..). But is there any other method to implement the logic once (for ex.: "PartnerAddress") and it will be available in all the objects (customer, contact, employee etc..)?

I referred to https://answers.sap.com/questions/12292894/index.html#. There, he is extending the object PartnerAddress(Dependent Object) but it is not available for extension through CAS. Is extension of "Dependent Objects" deprecated after 2016?

Please guide me through the process.

Hi Suneel,

Partner Address Dependent Object is not extendible from CAS(Is extensible = No, in repository explorer) because this is a DO and can be used in multiple Business Objects. To ensure the consistency throughout, the extensibility of this DO is restricted however read and write access on nodes in this DO are possible.

If you feel the partner address DO (or any other DO's) should be allowed to extend from CAS please post this idea in the influence forum, so that the product team can have a look into this and can check the feasibility based on the votes received. Below is the link to influence forum:

Is there any possibility that, we can write a script(for web service call to an external API service) for a single object and that will be available for all (customers, contacts and employees)?
