Oracle 19c Database to S4 Table data migration using SAP DATA SERVICES

Hello Everyone,

I am currently working on a migration project from an Oracle database to an S/4 HANA application system running on AWS. We have successfully set up datastore connections in SAP BODS for both the Oracle DB (datastore name: POFSN) and the S/4 HANA system (datastore name: SW1). Below is a brief overview of the connections:

S/4 HANA SYSTEM (SW1):

ORACLE Database (POFSN)

The issue arises when I attempt to drag a table (e.g., ADRC) from the SW1 datastore into the Dataflow in SAP BODS. I am not being given the option to set ADRC as the target table.

Is this process incorrect? What should I check to resolve this issue and ensure that tables from the S/4 HANA system can be used as target tables? 

Additionally, I would appreciate suggestions on other approaches to overwrite tables in S/4 HANA using SAP BODS.

SAP tables can ONLY be used as source, not target in DS. This is by-design. If you want to load into S4HANA system, you may need to design some WS function in S4HANA system. This WS function logic can load data into ERP tables. Then call this WS function in DS job. This can be a workaround for you.

Hi

You can't update SAP tables directly as target tables in BODS, rather you can use IDoc to post the Oracle data based on functions such as addresses, customer, material or purchase order etc. You can also use ABAP functions to post the data in tables (write ABAP functions in S4 and import it in BODS and use in Data flow). I hope this clarifies your questions.
