After converting a client's database from ASA 9.0.2 to SA 12.0.1 I checked the value of the database option "optimization_goal" and found 'Response-time'.
What will SA 12 do if the database option "optimization_goal" is set to this value? Will it be treated as if it was "First-row"?
Request clarification before answering.
Well, when you use
set option optimization_goal = 'Response-time'
against a v12.0.1 database, the value is shown as 'First-row'.
So it might be an (undocumented?) synonym for "First-row".
Leaving the question why your new (and old?) database has stored that value...
