Hi All,
Is there a way to collaborate work of multiple users in SAP Design Studio? We want multiple users to work on same dashboard but different tabs simultaneously. Is Online Composition feature useful to achieve this scenario? What are the best practices to achieve this? We want to assign different pieces of dashboard to different users so that they can work independently without affecting others work. Later we want to club all these components together into single dashboard.
Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,

Hello Rajeev.
Just wanted to clarify a few things based on your requirement.
Is it like if one person is working on Tab 1, the other 2 people will not have the authorization to make changes to the Tab 1?
If that's the case, we can only have application level authorization but not component level authorization.
Plus, if there were any code level fragments, we have tools to track changes and protect your part of the code.
But, component level fragments cannot have authorizations.
But there is still a workaround, which is as follows:
1) One person creates the main application with all three tabs and works on one particular tab.
2) Second person works on a tab as a separate application within a single container component, lets say a Gridbox/Panel and simlarly the third person on the final tab.
3) When all the tabs are built, the first person can just copy the particular container components and paste it into the other two tabs from the other applications.
In this case, each application can be in that particular person's favorites folder, so that you'll be the only person who can access it.
And when it has to be consolidated, it can be moved on to a public folder, where the first person has access to the other two applications.
Two things we'll have to take note of is:
1) All of you should be working on a similar theme and a common CSS file if any.
2) The naming convention of particular components should be discussed right from datasources till components, so that there doesn't occur any conflicts between all.
About online composition, though I've not used it extensively, i just feel it is entirely temporary and there won't be any such purpose to solve your requirement.
This is just a workaround I figured out on the go, and this may not be the easiest solution.
Please correct me if I was wrong on any part of the answer.
Thanks
