Multiple Date Variables for BEx Query?

I'm an intern needing to pull a report for someone on our sales team. My supervisor is on vacation and I'm not very familiar with BEx. I also work for a small company so there's no one else here who knows BEx other than my supervisor.

Basically, this person is asking for me to make a query that has 3 different date variables (07/2014-12/2014, 1/2015-12/2015 and 01/2016-06/2016) in order to see how sales have trended based on those periods. However, when I try to input multiple date variables, it won't allow me to. I've tried separating each date with a ";" and then a space but it just ends up pulling the data for only the first date in the list. My question is, can I have a report with multiple values in the "Month/Year" variable box? Or is it not possible?

I've been to the "selecting variable" help page and searched this forum for an answer but can't find one. I read somewhere to hold down the shift key and somewhere else to hold down the ctrl key. I've tried both and neither have worked (unless I'm somehow doing it wrong). Please share any knowledge or advice if you think it would help me!

Hello Emily,

Try to create 3 Restricted Key figures and restrict them with different variables. You can use them in your column structure. Make sure you don't restrict the same characteristic in the Filter section, otherwise your result set will be incomplete.

Thanks

Hi,

you can't input multiple date ranges in selection screen! also, you mentioned months but not dates!

and if I understand correctly, you can only run the report but can't access Bex Query Designer to design a query with such requirement. it's easy to design with all three ranges..

if your query has calmonth in the selection screen, then you can run for each range one time

ex: 07.2014 - 12.2014 then export it to excel, like wise re-run query for another year 01.2015 - 12.2015 export it to excel , similarly for 2016 data, then in excel consolidate all.

(ro) if your query doesn't have calmonth and it only has date , then you go by date ranges

ex: to fetch data from 07.2014 - 12.2014, you input in date filed like 01.07.2014 - 31.12.2014, then export to excel, similarly do for other ranges and consolidate.
