Migrating Workflows to Build Process Automation

Hello Everyone,

My team and I are currently developing an application that requires the integration of workflows. It has come to my attention that SAP is actively addressing this topic, with an update released on August 16th.

At present, we are encountering issues when attempting to import these workflows into SAP Build Process Automation (BPA). I came across a community post from a year ago in which an SAP expert mentioned that workflows developed within BAS could only be managed and updated within BAS. Our intention was to use BPA exclusively for development.

Given the recent update, we would appreciate clarification on whether it is now possible to use BPA as the sole development environment, or if we are still required to manage the older workflows in BAS.

What is the update released on August 16th you refer to?

After solving an incident ticket with a representative from the Collaboration (PLM-CLOUD-COL) team, i can affirm that doing this DOES NOT allow you to import/edit the old workflows inside BPA. As a confirmation, the representative mentioned they are still using the Business Application Studio for modifying or enhancing the old workflows.

Therefore if you intend on using BPA as the editing software, you have to recreate the entire process inside BPA from the beginning.

I have checked the "What's new" section for the workflow management, BPA and Product Lifecycle Management and i see there indeed hasn't been an update on the 16th of August.

But we came across this article Migration Article in which it is stated:
"Starting with the July 2024 delivery of SAP Product Lifecycle Management, it is mandatory for you to migrate from SAP Workflow Management service to SAP Build Process Automation if you want to continue viewing existing workflows, creating new workflows for collaborations."

Just to make sure, my question is: if we want to use only BPA without BAS, is it possible to import old workflows AND update them inside the BPA, or do we have to build new ones in BPA ?
