Our BW system version is NW 7.4 SP9 and is on HANA database. We are planning to migrate all data flows from 3.x to 7.x . I am checking below link for information on this topic.

Migrating data flow

Please share best practices based on your experience on this topic.

There are many objects that are developed in production only so we are thinking of refreshing our BW dev system to keep all objects consistent with Prod. Please let me know your experience in this area.

Did anyone has experience with using Checking a Migrated Data flow feature as explained in below link?

Checking a Migrated data flow

For Ex: If i am trying to compare a data flow for Master data direct update, I am getting a message that there is no infosource existing between source and target. Is Infosource mandatory to do a comparison?

It's not a bad idea, but I assume you already know the risks in copying your Prod objects to Dev (e.g. changes in Dev that haven't made it to Prod yet will be overwritten again, ...)?

Apart from that, objects that were created directly in Prod and are being transported/copied back to Dev probably still refer to Prod as the "original system" (in which the object has been created). Personally I would change that to Dev (once the object has been copied into Dev obviously) before doing any changes. The first time you transport those back to Prod, you'll have to check the correct flags in the transport (check with your sys admin or basis team).

last time I personally did it, is quite a while ago (as in a couple of years)... but, I'm about to do it again (very) soon

should we run into issues (and I remember), I'll try to update this post
