meta data repository???

Hi everybody,

i have a doubt regarding-- meta data repository--

can anyone explain what is this meta data ( i read in a book like --- its data about data)

does this mean information about the structures of infocube and ods and datasources etc. can anyone kindly explain it to me in clear without using much of technical jargon plz ( i get confused )

HI,

Indeed its data about data. Like when talking about an ODS in the metadatarepository you can read about which characteristics, key figures, infosource and updaterules are used in it. And creation date, owner etc.

You could see all the Technical Details. Length of the field etc. You son't see Business Event Data here.

but i have read in one of the thread saying that when we replicate datasource --its said that we r getting the metadata objects copied (can you kindly explain this)
