Hi Experts,
We are currently using SAP Solution Manager with multiple capabilities such as System Monitoring, Business Process Monitoring, ChaRM, and Solution Documentation. As part of our Cloud ALM migration planning, we are working on cost and memory/data estimation compared to our existing SolMan setup.
We understand that SAP Cloud ALM follows a fair-use model (~24 GB HANA memory per tenant) and does not store full historical data like Solution Manager. However, we are facing challenges in translating our current SolMan usage into Cloud ALM sizing and cost estimation.
Could you please help us with the following:
Any guidance or documentation would help us build a reliable cost and sizing estimation model for our migration planning.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi, sunilnag,
I am unaware of any 'estimator' tools/documentation for Cloud ALM. I think it would be very difficult to estimate as there is so much flexibility and options in what you can monitor for SAP to reliably calculate what you 'might' use.
The various Operations Use Cases calculate and provide information on their total usage and offer housekeeping to keep the usage as low as your settings allow (many people set these controls with compliance reasons in mind).
Here is one example of usage and settings available -> Health Monitoring:
If you click Details, it will break out the usage by system/service:
Cloud ALM also offers a Self-Monitoring tool which shows the overall consumption and API consumption:
You can find information about Fair Usage at:

Regarding questions about Cost -> those are to be directed to your SAP Account Executive.
I hope you find helpful information to know how to proceed.
Best regards,
Paula
