Long text formatting options - editor

Hello,

We are currently dealing with the issue of using customer-specific long texts in sales. The line breaks are different in the standard editor and in the special editor of the Business Client. This also leads to incorrect display in subsequent systems.
Are there any ways to replace or improve the editor in SAP?

That's true, SAP allows some flexibility in replacing or improving the long text editor. You can configure whether the editor uses the standard SAP GUI editor, the MS Word-based editor, or other text-based options. However, replacing the editor entirely is limited to what SAP provides—customization usually involves adjusting system settings, user parameters, or using Business Client integration rather than installing a completely new editor
To solve your issue, I suggest standardizing on one editor (preferably the line editor for consistency) and using ABAP enhancements to normalize line breaks before texts are passed to subsequent systems. If you want to explore editor settings, check SAP GUI options under Utilities → Settings → Word Processing or consult your Basis team to enforce editor consistency.
