When one is doing an in-place upgrade of windows from 2012 to 2019 + Sybase patch update(minor) + Kernel, does it warrant JVM upgrade also ? Bear in mind Netweaver 7.5 is supported until 2027 so we don't plan to update our Netweaver(java) version yet. I went through KBA's 2768400 and 2695197 however there doesn't seem to be any dependencies although keeping everything to latest and greatest is always recommended and we are on compatible higher version. Please let me know your thoughts

Hi Kalyana,
To my understanding, If you are in SAP JVM in 8.1 on NW 7.5 no need to upgrade the JVM latest patchs, In case of any issues after the upgrade you can patch the latest one.

Hi Kalyana
Have you checked this Wiki link about the SAP JVM Netweaver compatibility and Installation?

Hi - Thank you. The note I referenced already have compatibility information. The specific question I had is if updating Kernel, do we have to update Jvm patch also ? The notes and wiki link shows only higher versions but no specific information on lower patch levels. For example Netweaver 7.5 is compatible with JVM 8.1 but within 8.1 current patch is 95. Also as part of in-place upgrade of OS, we are only doing Kernel + Sybase so wondering if i need to patch JVM also as best practice ?
