Issue with Cloud Appliance Library AWS instance status Undefined

Yesterday I have activated the 30 days trial to access the S4HANA 1909 FPS02 fully activated appliance;

An AWS account has been created for the EC2 instances, AWS has sent a go for the authorization after checking all ok, but still the status of the instance is "Undefined" and cannot activate it;

When trying to activate it, the system issue message error

"The operation Resume is not allowed for the solution instance "CAL S4H 1909 FPS02"

The free period trial of 30 days just started, AWS has made all checks for go but still I cannot activate my EC2 instance with that message error.

Hi t.om,

I've been there... And this is what I did to have it fixed.

Terminate this instance and to try to create a new one. Then activate operations will fail with the same error.

Then move the mouse over the exclamation mark next to the status icon to see the error message? Most probably it will come from AWS. If so, you can get the error code from the message and search by it in:

http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/api-error-codes.html.

i have terminate the instance and as you said

i have the explicit error message You have requested more vCPU capacity than your current vCPU limit of 32 allows for the instance bucket that the specified instance type belongs to. Please visit http://aws.amazon.com/contact-us/ec2-request to request an adjustment to this limit. (Service: AmazonEC2; Status Code: 400; Error Code:VcpuLimitExceeded;

Where should i adjust the EC2 type for larger instance?

Hi

I had requested larger EC2 instances than the initial 32, now I have 64 and everything was working fine;

Today when restarting the instances because of the 8h suspension I have the same message but with limit of 64

"You have requested more vCPU capacity than your current vCPU limit of 64 allows for the instance bucket that the specified instance type belongs to"

Questions :

Is there a tool in the Cloud Appliance Library that can help sizing efficiently the EC2 instance ?

Why in the first run it works and now it requires an upgrade for more than 64?

I want to make sure when requesting an upgrade at AWS to go for the right sizing.

Hello t.om,

You can check the size requirements by going to the solution details and navigating to the RECOMMENDED VM SIZES section.

There you can see the required cores for each virtual machine.

If you would like to see the details of the different available sizes for the solution, you can click the Calculate Cost button, choose the desired cloud provider and select the required region.

There you will see the different available sizes and their details, as well as the required storage to successfully start the solution instance.

Please note that the update of the quota generally takes some time. Additionally, it is possible that some of the quota may be consumed by activities not related to the work with the Cloud Appliance Library.
