Invalid QR Code

Dear Community,

I've created an Application with Design Studio, basend on an Analysis for Office workbook.

I can view the Application in my Browser, but when I try to open the Application via my iPhone by scanning the generated QR-Code, there is this message : "Invalid QR-Code"

Has anybody come across this, too? Who can help?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Sarah,

When you open "QR code" , there is button on the bottom left corner "Copy URL to clipboard".

Could you please click on it and paste the link in browser and see if the application opens?

If you are running in BIP mode, application should open but if you are running in Local mode you may need to enable Externalization on Designer before accessing QR code.

Tools -> Preferences -> Application Design -> Tick "Allow external access to embedded Web server"/

Also I'd suggest to use different QR code reader and see if that resolves the issue ?

Hi Pukhraj,

you were right about the Preferences settign. As soon as I had flagged "Allow external access to embedded Web server" I was able to view my Application on my iPhone. But I still had to use Quick Scan rather than the SAP BI App. Here I still faced "Invalid QR-Code".

Now I need to adapt the layout of the application, as the export function from Analysis Office doesn't consider the medium used to view the data.

Kind regards and Thank you for your help!

Sarah

Hi Mustafa,

i read the QR Code via the SAP BI App. and via another QR Code Scan App called "Qucik Scan".

Hi Sarah,

Are you having the same issue with both Quick Scan and the SAP BI App?  I have downloaded Quick Scan to my iPhone and it works fine for my Design Studio app QR Code.  However, I receive the same "Invalid QR-Code" error when attempting to scan with the SAP BI App.

I assume you're generating the Design Studio QR-Code with the "Send to Mobile Device (using QR Code)" option.  If so, it's quite possible that the QR Code scanner in the SAP BI App only supports URLs for Design Studio Apps published directly to the BI Platform rather than local mode.

Mustafa.

Mustafa - you are right, thank you for correcting me.

I just tried using Qrafter (a free QR app) on the iPhone and it worked locally with Design Studio

Sarah,

I am not sure SAP intended the QR code to work on the BI Platform; for that SAP's Mobile BI solution is a better fit.  QR code scanning is for the developer to look at the mobile app locally

Hi Mustafa,

you were right. Pukhraj pointed this out, too.

Changing the setting for my local mode application helped.

Thank you for your help!

Kind regards,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I don't think using the iPhone w/ the QR code is supported.

Please see the SAP help: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/AAD13/en/ds13SP01_user_en.pdf

Page 75 says " (iPad 2 or higher)"

If you want to view it on the iPhone, copy the URL and send it to your self and then you should be able to open it in Safari on the iPhone.

Hi Tammy,

I think the reference to iPad in the User Guide on page 75 is just intended to be an example of a supported mobile device.  QR codes for the iPhone are in fact supported and I have successfully tested this.  I suspect Sarah's issue is specific to her particular Design Studio application.

Mustafa.
